What we were: Cambia WAS a startup community based on principles of social and ecological permaculture, education, and research. We are still cultural experimenters hoping to answer the question of how to build a trust-based and compassionate community that also motivates its members to achieve their highest potential.
However, given sufficient evidence of failure, we know we must try something different.

We are a small community of four adult members and two children aspiring for a high level of sharing and connection while maintaining a solid connection with our personal aspirations. Our village is inspired by nature and is an attempt to create human habitat that emulates the beauty and complexity of living systems. Are we there yet? Probably not, but we seek to discover new ways of connecting our living environments with the natural world. The structure of our work and our daily rituals is designed to give the opportunity to increase our skills and education through experience, mentorship, sharing and study, while growing as individuals. Within a thriving cluster of income-sharing communities, we are creating a viable, regenerative alternative to the mainstream. We strengthen the relationships between existing communities through labor exchange, cultural events, and personal connection. |
